  • Total Time: 40 mins

Description

A luxurious and creamy seafood bisque featuring the delicate flavors of shrimp, crab, and lobster. Perfect as a starter or a comforting main dish, this bisque is sure to impress!

Ingredients

Scale

For the seafood:

  • 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 lb lump crab meat
  • 1/2 lb lobster meat, chopped

For the base:

  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

For the broth:

  • 3 cups seafood or chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Seasonings:

  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Garnish (optional):

  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

1️⃣ Cook the Aromatics:
In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the onions are translucent and fragrant.

2️⃣ Make the Roux:
Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, whisking constantly to form a smooth paste. This helps thicken the bisque and gives it a velvety texture.

3️⃣ Add Liquids:
Gradually pour in the seafood or chicken broth, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Allow the mixture to thicken slightly before stirring in the heavy cream. Season with Old Bay seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer, being careful not to boil.

4️⃣ Add the Seafood:
Gently fold in the shrimp, crab meat, and lobster. Simmer for 5-7 minutes or until the shrimp turn pink and are fully cooked. Ensure all seafood is heated through.

5️⃣ Serve:
Ladle the bisque into bowls and garnish with freshly chopped parsley, if desired. Pair with crusty bread or oyster crackers for an elegant touch.

Notes

  • For an extra-smooth bisque, you can blend the broth base before adding the seafood.
  • Feel free to adjust the seasoning to your preference or add a dash of cayenne for a spicy kick.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and gently reheated on the stovetop.
