Smoked Sausage Cajun Alfredo

  • Author: Thomas
  • Total Time: 30 mins

Description

A creamy, spicy twist on traditional Alfredo, this dish combines tender pasta with smoky sausage and a Cajun kick. It’s a quick and satisfying meal perfect for busy weeknights or when you’re craving comfort food with a bold flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

For the pasta and sausage:

  • 8 oz pasta (penne, fettuccine, or your choice)
  • 1 (14-oz) package turkey smoked sausage, sliced into ¼-inch rounds

For the sauce:

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

1️⃣ Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2️⃣ Cook the sausage: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, sauté the smoked sausage slices for about 5 minutes, flipping occasionally, until browned on both sides.

3️⃣ Prepare the sauce: Reduce the heat to medium. Add the heavy cream and Cajun seasoning to the skillet with the sausage. Stir to combine, and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Reduce heat and let it simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce begins to thicken.

4️⃣ Incorporate the cheese: Remove the skillet from heat. Gradually stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until it melts and the sauce is smooth and creamy.

5️⃣ Combine and serve: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing gently to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.

6️⃣ Garnish and enjoy: Optionally, sprinkle with additional Parmesan cheese, fresh parsley, or a dash of Cajun seasoning for extra flavor. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Customizable Spice Level: Adjust the amount of Cajun seasoning to suit your spice tolerance.
  • Alternative Proteins: You can substitute the smoked sausage with shrimp or grilled chicken for variety.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently to avoid separating the sauce.
